Pedapari: Sheer dedication and hard work have helped a young man from a small village in the region win the Science Pursuing Innovation Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Teacher Scholarship. He is about to join the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) as a five-year faculty fellow. He is one of 22 researchers from across the country selected for the INSPIRE Engineering Science Fellowship.
Dr. Kota Srinivas Reddy (31) was born to Manamma and Kota Ravinder Reddy, a farmer couple in Thogarrai village, Sulthanabad mandal in the district, and he was very studious from an early age. After completing his 10th class at Harsha High School in Kanukula near his village, he joined Trinity Junior College in Peddapalli and achieved 96% in Intermediate (MPC).
Later, Reddy completed his BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Warangal in May 2012 and secured a seat at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur to work on his M. Tech.
“After completing M.Tech, I joined IIT, Mumbai in 2015 as a PhD student and successfully completed my studies and obtained my degree. Later, I joined there as a postdoctoral researcher (PDF) and did my research from June 2021 to 2021 worked there in December 2019,” Srinivas Reddy told Telangana Today. He was also awarded the “Naik and Rastogi Award” for excellence in Ph.D. 2020-22 Study at IIT Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Srinivas Reddy was also offered a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), which ranks among the top 20 in the world in various academic surveys by prestigious organisations.
“I will finish my PDF in NUS by the end of this year and I will join any IIT soon as a faculty member. I can do this because of my parents, teachers and especially my PhD supervisor Prof Nikhil Karamchandani and Prof Sharayu Moharir, and other family members for their constant support,” he said.
Lei Di, who goes back to the village every year during the holidays, also works in the farmland as he likes farming. “My brother-in-law has always been a very hardworking and talented person. He is a genuine person and really has solid knowledge in mathematics,” said Annam Madhukar Reddy, Reddy’s relative, who was delighted to receive the INSPIRE scholarship.
