Hyderabad: People in the area around Rangadhamuni Cheruvu can enjoy various leisure facilities by the beautiful lakeside.
Rangadhamuni Cheruvu in Kukatpally also known as IDL Lake is set to undergo major changes in the next few months with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) undertaking a lakefront development at an estimated cost of Rs 9.8 lakh. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for the project on Friday.
HMDA has set a deadline of June 2023 for the completion of the project, and according to a detailed project report, the revitalized Rangadhamuni Cheruvu will feature pavers, pebbles and granite floors on the main bund.
HMDA will also develop a children’s play area, light up entertainment venues, create a food court and develop a lounge area. To further beautify the place, sculptures will be installed and softscapes will emerge on the main bund. “Landscaping, greenery, sidewalks, street furniture and other necessary amenities will be developed so that people can enjoy the lakeside,” HMDA officials said. At present, in the evening, many people come to the lake near the Bund.
The Rangadhamuni Lake FTL in Kukatpally has an area of 46.24 acres and a main embankment of 568 meters long. The Lakeside Bund is adjacent to Mumbai National Highway, close to dense residential areas, gated communities and commercial establishments.
