Hyderabad: Former Australia captain Richie Ponting was rushed to hospital yesterday while commentating for a Test match between Australia and the West Indies in Perth.
The Australian star complained of chest pains during the commentary and was immediately taken to the hospital on the advice of the Australian team doctor Ligolding. However, after inspection, it was confirmed that Ponting was in good health.
Soon, he was back on the commentary bench, performing duties at Perth’s Optus Stadium, on his second day of pain. The former right-hander, a member of the Seven Cricket broadcast, spoke about his fitness during a radio presentation ahead of Day 4 of the first NMRA Insurance Test match.
“I mentioned to JL who was commenting on me that I had these pains in my chest … 10 or 15 minutes later, I was in the hospital with the best treatment I could possibly get,” Ricky Ponting said.
