India celebrates the day to recognize the role of the Indian Navy and commemorate its achievements during the 1971 India-Pakistan War during Operation Trident.

New Delhi: Senior officials of the Indian Armed Forces paid their respects at the National War Memorial on Sunday and commemorated the achievement of bombing and destroying the port of Karachi during Operation Trident during the 1971 war against Pakistan, according to defense officials.
Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Anil Chauhan, Indian Air Force Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Naval Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar were among the officials present.
“To commemorate the glorious achievement of bombing and destroying the port of Karachi during Operation Trident during the 1971 war, CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, IAF Chief Air Marshal VR Chaudhari and Admiral R Hari Kumar paid their respects at the National War Memorial,” said a Ministry of Defense official Say.
India observes 4th December as Naval Day every year to recognize the role of the Indian Navy and to commemorate its achievements in Operation Trident during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on the occasion of Navy Day, saying the force was known for its humanitarianism while “resolutely” protecting the country.
“Best wishes to all Navy personnel and their families on Navy Day. We Indians are proud of our rich seafaring history. The Indian Navy has steadfastly protected our nation and acted with humanity during challenging times.” The spirit of ideology comes to the fore,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also greeted Navy Day, saying India was proud of the courage, courage, commitment and professionalism of the Indian Navy.
“Greetings to all @IndianNavy personnel on #NavyDay. The Indian Navy is at the forefront of maintaining national security by ensuring impeccable maritime security. The Nation is proud of the valor, courage, commitment and professionalism of the Indian Navy,” said La Jenath Singh tweeted.
He also shared a video from the Indian Navy on Twitter, showing the combat readiness of the Indian Navy.
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral R Hari Kumar, recalled and praised India’s brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the country.
“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to protecting and advancing our national interests and maintaining the #CombatReady #Credible #Cohesive & #FutureProof Force. We honor the tremendous sacrifices of brave men and honor our Veterans Thank you,” an Indian Navy spokesman quoted Admiral R Hari Kumar as saying on Twitter.
This year, as India ushers in ‘Amrit Kaal’ as it celebrates the 75th anniversary of its independence, the Indian Navy prepares to showcase India’s combat prowess and capabilities through a ‘combat demonstration’ in Visakhapatnam on Sunday December April 2022.
This year, for the first time, Navy Day celebrations were held outside the nation’s capital. Indian Navy ships, submarines, aircraft and special forces from the Eastern, Western and Southern Naval Commands will showcase the capabilities and versatility of the Indian Navy. The event will conclude with a sunset ceremony and lighting of ships at anchor.
As part of Navy Day, ENC kicked off a full dress rehearsal on Friday night at Rama Krishna Beach for the Navy Day program on December 4th. INS Tarangini, INS Jalashwa, the largest amphibious transport pier and 15 warships including submarines and aircraft took part near Rama Krishna Beach in Visakhapatnam.
The iconic fighter MIG-29K, which includes some of the aviation assets on board the INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant aircraft carriers, is also scheduled to participate in the December 4 airshow. The P-8I Poseidon also performed low-altitude flights, captivating spectators with its sheer size.
Various helicopters such as the reliable Chetaks, the indigenously built ALH (Advanced Light Helicopter) and the massive UH 3H. Navy personnel also practiced UH 3H maritime search and rescue operations off the coast. The silhouette of the warship, dotted with electric lights and firing flares, simulating a war scene, is particularly eye-catching against the backdrop of the night sky.
Navy Day celebrations are designed to foster greater advocacy, renew our citizens’ awareness of the sea, and highlight the Navy’s contribution to national security.
