Hyderabad's Numaish to take lively look this time

Hyderabad: If all goes well, the more popular All India Industry Exhibition as Numaish will be buzzing from day one, with all stalls open and catering to visitors.

The Exhibition Association’s goal is to ensure that at least 80% of stall owners start their business activities from the day of their inauguration. “We want to provide more mileage for tourists and stallholders. Traders are encouraged to prepare well before the official opening and launch of their business,” said Ashvin Margam, Vice President, Exhibition Association.

Starting Monday, the association will issue distribution letters to stall owners. About 1,200 booths will be allocated and 2,000 applications have been received from traders across the country. The number of stalls has been reduced due to safety reasons and fire codes allowing emergency vehicles more room to move.

The association is also in contact with authorities to allow the exhibition to run until at least 11.30pm on the crowded weekend.

“Markets across the city are open until midnight. So we are looking for exhibitions to relax from their regular time of 10.30pm so people are not crowded and visitors have plenty of time to shop and relax here,” he said.

Numaish has not been able to take place as planned for the past four years due to problems caused by the Covid pandemic. In the years before the pandemic, around 2 million people visited Numaish over a 45-day period, with one-day attendance on weekends reaching 40,000.

Due to the new crown epidemic, the exhibition was suspended for two seasons, and the exhibition period was changed, which brought economic losses to the association. “So we raised the entrance fee to Rs. 40 per person. We run educational institutes and do charity work with the money we earn from selling tickets and renting booth space. After four years, we will increase the entrance fee,” Ashvin said. Margam said.

After receiving complaints about telecommunications-related network problems, the exhibition association is in discussions with various companies to install additional mobile towers to improve network connectivity. “We also plan to provide free ‘Wifi’ facilities for tourists,” he added.
