TRS MPs highlight Centre's discrimination against Telangana in Parliament

Hyderabad: The TRS (now BRS) is preparing to fight in parliament over the central government’s discrimination against Telangana in the allocation of funds and projects and cuts in borrowing. With the winter session of Parliament set to start on Wednesday, TRS (BRS) chairman and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao directed party lawmakers to expose the failures of the BJP government in various aspects and question discrimination against Telangana state.

In a meeting with the party’s MPs on Monday night, the Chief Minister directed them to raise one issue a day in Parliament and questioned why the BJP government had not made any promises – Kazipet’s railway coach factories, Bayyaram’s steel mills, tribal colleges, IIMs and Other projects enacted under the Andhra Pradesh Restructuring Act have not been fulfilled even after eight years. The center has yet to resolve river water disputes and finalize Telangana’s share of the Krishna and Godavari rivers. He even wonders if the center isn’t addressing these issues on purpose.

During the 16-day session of Parliament, MPs will also discuss issues related to Telangana’s outstanding funding, including proposals from the NITI Aayog and the 13th, 14th and 15th Finance Committees. As the Center plans to introduce more than 20 different bills in the upcoming session, the Chief Minister has asked MPs to study the bills in detail and question any injustice done to the country by passing them through Parliament.
