New Delhi: Telegram Messenger on Thursday announced new features in its latest update, including “SIM-free registration” in the country.
The “SIM-free registration” feature allows users to communicate with others without revealing their phone number to them in person or on popular forums, the company said in a statement.
It allows the registration of a Telegram account without a SIM card to further increase the user’s security on the platform and create the highest level of privacy. Users can log in using a blockchain-based anonymous number provided on the Fragment platform.
In addition to “SIM-free registration”, the messaging platform has also introduced more features, including “automatically delete all chat history”, “theme 2.0”, “temporary QR code”, etc.
Previously, users could only delete individual chats, but now with “Auto-Delete All Chats,” they can set an auto-delete timer to automatically delete messages in all new chats.
With the “Topics 2.0” feature, group administrators with more than 99 members can organize discussions into topics, followed by a two-column modal interface that makes it easy for users to find current chats while browsing topics.
The “Temporary QR Code” update will help users temporarily generate QR codes to quickly connect with people around them without displaying their phone numbers.
“iOS users can use emoji search to find the perfect emoji just like Android users, including those from custom packs,” the platform said.
“Premium users can now enjoy and express more in messages, reactions and statuses with an additional 10 custom emoji packs designed by Telegram artists,” it added.
