Hyderabad: The Haryana Steelers put in a solid performance in their penultimate game of the league, thrashing the Telugu Titans 50-33 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
Rakesh Narwal scored 11 points for Haryana Steelers, while substitute Lovepreet Singh added seven in a brilliant 20-minute cameo.
Last time at home, the Telugu Titans came out of the box faster than the Haryana Steelers, with K Hanumanthu and Mohsen Maghsoudlou opening for them. Within minutes, however, Vinay, Manjeet and Rakesh Narwal helped Haryana Steelers bounce back, erase the lead and take the lead. Halfway through the first half, the Haryana Steelers turned the tables with a seven-point lead.
Since then, Rakesh and Nitin Rawal continued to score at will, even as the Telugu Titans did their best to stay in the game. However, the trio of Vinay, Rakesh and Nitin had plans of their own as the Haryana Steelers headed into the half-time break with a 26-11 lead over the Telugu Titans.
The Haryana Steelers started the second half with a big change in lineup but played the Telugu Titans from the start. Shortly after the game entered the second period, Rakesh completed his super 10 and the Haryana Steelers continued to extend their lead while Hash made his mark on the defense.
With less than 10 minutes to go and the Haryana Steelers leading by 23 points, a comeback looked unlikely despite the Telugu Titans having Abhishek Singh to keep fighting. In the final minutes, the Haryana Steelers shut out their opponents and ended with a big win, while the Telugu Titans pulled their way down with a loss.
