Starlink inflight internet takes off on JSX jets

San Francisco: Elon Musk’s SpaceX announced Friday that its satellite internet service, Starlink, has taken off on a private airline’s first JSX jet.

SpaceX announced the news on the microblogging platform Twitter.

It reads, “Starlink began providing passengers with high-speed, low-latency internet this week during the flight of the first @flyjsx jet!”

“Starlink will be installed on more @flyjsx jets in the coming weeks, so as soon as you step on the plane, the internet will work,” it added.

Several users voiced their thoughts in SpaceX’s tweet.

While one user thanked Musk, “I love it, I’m able to watch Netflix, thanks Elon”, another user said, “I’ve been waiting for this partnership to happen and finally WiFi on JSX instead of s** *Wi- has internet but wifi is fine!”

In October, SpaceX announced that with the official launch of Starlink Aviation next year, its satellite internet service will soon be available on some aircraft.

During a test flight in September, Starlink Aviation was able to provide onboard internet speeds of 100Mbps.

The demonstration was conducted on a flight between Burbank and San Jose, Calif., by JSX, which announced in April that it would be one of the first airlines to adopt in-flight Internet service.
