Hyderabad: The weather in Hyderabad and surrounding areas of Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts remained gloomy, cold and dull on Sunday as Cyclone Mandous remained active in parts of Tamil Nadu and parts of Karnataka.
People in Hyderabad woke up to cold weather on Sunday morning due to moderate but widespread unseasonal showers that started around midnight and continued until early morning.
This determined the trend throughout the day as Hyderabad and its suburbs remained completely covered in cloud cover with occasional drizzle. The sun shone briefly on Sunday afternoon before disappearing into an overcast sky.
By Sunday night, showers were seen in various parts of Hyderabad, first starting from the LB Nagar-Hayathnagar area and continuing to cover other parts of the state capital.
Despite light to moderate rain, several places in Hyderabad did receive measurable amounts of rain. According to the daily rainfall data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Serlingampally had the highest rainfall at 23.5mm till Sunday night, followed by Bahadurpura at 5.3mm and Rajendarnagar at 5mm.
Some other areas reporting rainfall include Hayathnagar, Saroornagar, Secunderabad, Malakpet, LB Nagar, Santoshnagar, parts of Banjara Hills, Madhapur, Kandikal Gate in Bandlaguda, Sainikpuri, Nagaram, etc.
Daytime highs drop a notch due to prevailing weather conditions. Hyderabad recorded a high of 26C on Sunday while a low of 18C to 19C in the evening.
According to the IMD Hyderabad forecast, the current unseasonal weather conditions of light to moderate showers and cloud cover may persist until Wednesday, December 14.
