The state government, following the direction of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, has constructed 592 double-bedroom houses of type G 3 in the vicinity of Ambedkar Nagar near Hanamkonda bus station.
People living in the area are asked to vacate the site and stay in makeshift huts/tents. Construction of the houses was completed in 2019. However, officials failed to distribute the homes to beneficiaries for various reasons.
Speaking of’Telangana today‘, said a person who lives in Ambedkar Nagar, who lived in makeshift houses during the rainy season and had a lot of trouble. “Even though the chief minister approved the houses and ensured that they were built in a short period of time, the officials did not allocate them to us,” he lamented.
Hanamkonda district collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu said they have not yet finalized the list of beneficiaries. Asked if the house was damaged because it was unoccupied, he said they would fix it and hand it over to someone who was eligible.
West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said the state government is preparing to hand over 592 two-bedroom houses (2BHK) to beneficiaries in the Warangal West parliamentary constituency he represents as soon as possible.
He alleged that opposition leaders were creating unnecessary controversy over delays in housing allocations. “We are committed to benefiting the poor. Due to broken doors, windows, water taps and electrical appliances, we will allocate houses after repairing them,” he added.
