Some engineering graduates also see law as an alternative career

TS LAWCET Admissions Convenor Professor Ramesh Babu said that besides practicing as a lawyer, opportunities for law graduates abound as some companies need the help of legal experts.
Hyderabad: While the enthusiasm for engineering and medical programs continues among some parents and students, some candidates graduating from such programs are looking at law as an alternative career.
The number of graduates of professional courses who have applied for law courses this year is enough to illustrate the demand for law.
A quick look at the three-year law degree admissions through the Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET) 2022 shows that 2,737 engineering graduates (comprising 2,254 males and 483 females) passed the entrance exam, of which 1,864 sought Enrolled, 908 people got seats.
In fact, after 954 BCom and 934BSc graduates, engineering graduates make up the largest number of law school admissions this year. “During my preparation for the civil service, having passed the main exams twice, I decided to pursue law. I also sat for the TSPSC Group-I exam and am awaiting the results. A law degree will qualify me for more executive-level jobs work,” says K Srujan Mourya, an engineering graduate who was admitted to the Faculty of Law at Osmania University.

After graduating from ECE in 2016, Sai Krishna worked in a multinational company before quitting to start a poultry business. “While working full-time in the poultry business, I started preparing for civil service exams, during which time I learned about various laws and constitutions. So, I decided to study further to understand the laws thoroughly,” said Krishna, who is a graduate student at the Adarsha Law School. Obtained a seat in law.
Not just engineering graduates, law courses are also most sought after by doctors, dentists, pharmacists and architects.
A total of 33 doctors (25 males and 8 females) passed the entrance examination, 18 of them applied for admission, and 13 were admitted by various colleges and universities.

G Raju is one such doctor who, after graduating in anesthesiology, decided to pursue law studies. “I am a successful practitioner. However, I am not happy with the current trends in the health sector. Therefore, I have decided to pursue a law course as another decent life option. I will continue to practice medicine alongside my law course ,” said Raju, who was admitted to PRR Law College, Hyderabad.
According to Prof P Ramesh Babu, Convenor of Admissions for TS LAWCET 2022, besides practicing as a lawyer, opportunities for law graduates are plentiful as there are already several companies that need the help of legal experts.
With the second and final phase of mentoring underway, there will be a further increase in the number of professional program graduates enrolling in the three-year law programme.
