Hyderabad: Welcoming Daifuku Company Limited’s Rs 450 crore investment in Telangana, Industry Minister KT Rama Rao urged the state’s industrialists to think big and make world-class products.
The Government of Telangana has signed an agreement with Daifuku, which provides automated material handling technology and solutions. The company is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Telangana.
The new facility spanning over 200,000 sq. ft. will expand its current 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Pashamylaram.
The new facility is likely to be built at Chandanvelly, with an estimated investment of Rs 200 crore planned for the first phase, while Daifuku plans to have the new facility operational within the next 18 months.
In his speech, the Minister said that land is a luxury commodity and he wanted industrialists to be more innovative and make new inventions.
“In the past, access to capital was a big challenge. Now, with all the support from the government, it is no longer a challenge. Indian entrepreneurs need to be more bold and enterprising,” said Rama Rao.
Citing the industrial parks in Dandumalkapur as an example, the minister wanted industrialists to compete in scaling up their businesses and setting up large parks in the state.
Stressing the need to focus more on manufacturing, the minister said India needs to achieve all the growth and development of the sector within 10 years, compared to 30 years for the US and 25 years for China.
“We need to pole vault and surpass others. In addition to high-tech and smart manufacturing, we should also emphasize basic manufacturing,” he said.
Recalling his recent meeting with Procter & Gamble, the minister wanted the company to launch apprenticeship programs in partnership with IIT Basara. It’s a win-win situation for both the company and the institution, he added.
Vega Conveyors and Automation Private Limited Srinivas Garimella, Daifuku’s Indian subsidiary, said the company’s expansion, including technology transfer from Japan, will not only help us with our localization plans, but will also accelerate our product development pipeline in India.
