Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) authorities have asked drivers to take extra care while navigating buses as winter intensifies and foggy conditions engulf the early hours of the morning.
The company has issued advice to bus drivers on precautions to take when driving in winter, instructing employees on the dos and don’ts they must follow to prevent accidents.
TSRTC Deputy Chairman and Managing Director VC Sajjanar urged bus drivers to take adequate rest before going to work and to be vigilant and vigilant while driving to prevent possible accidents due to the cold weather and road conditions. “It’s always good to drive at a normal speed, especially when changing lanes, it’s advisable to slow down and use the lights,” he said.
When driving on foggy roads, in addition to using fog lights and horns when necessary, turn on the wipers and adjust the headlights to low beams. Drivers are asked to slow down when driving on poor and unmaintained roads.
Whenever the road is covered in fog and visibility is poor, drivers can pull over and wait for the weather to improve. The windshield should be wiped from the outside and from the inside with wipers and a cloth.
“Before going to work, drivers should check that all controls, wipers, horn and headlights are in working order, or have them repaired as soon as possible. Those who drive between 3am and 5am can stop at a bus stop. Come down and freshen up. This avoids fatigue and sleep,” says Sajjanar.
Additionally, RTC officials warned drivers against reckless and negligent driving and overtaking when the road ahead is unclear.
“Sudden braking and driving on the wrong line can also cause accidents in winter. It is always safe not to cross the center line or center line or zigzag on the road and give sudden directions,” added the senior TSRTC official.
