Nalgonda: Innovator Gorre Ashok, who has previously made a variety of agricultural tools to help farmers, has launched two innovative products aimed at helping people with disabilities.
Born into a farming family in Anjalipuram, Suryapet District, Ashok has invented various agricultural implements and won awards at the national and international levels. Ashok has now developed two tools designed for hearing-impaired students and bedridden elderly people, as well as those with orthopedic disabilities.
For the hearing-impaired, Ashok has created a special alarm clock, since normal alarm clocks are of little use to them. The dedicated alarm clock emits a scent at the time fixed by the alarm clock to help students or others wake up by smelling the scent. He tested the gadget at the government boarding school for the deaf in Miria Laguda Avantipuram and said the results were very encouraging.
He also made an assistive cane for the elderly and disabled who couldn’t get out of bed to pick things up. Using this stick, they can take any item placed in the room and even open a closet using this special stick.
In an interview with Telangana Today, Ashok said there are special alarm clock watches in the market that vibrate at a fixed time, but they are wearable devices and cannot be used in dormitories for the hearing impaired. This prompted him to create a special perfumed alarm clock. He made this clock by connecting a DC motor and a perfume bottle to a regular desk clock. The alarm clock will send out a one-minute perfume at a fixed time to show the alarm clock, filling the entire dormitory room with fragrance and helping hearing-impaired students wake up.
He said that when a button is pressed, the auxiliary pole can be extended by up to two meters, and the length can be adjusted as needed. With a special arrangement on the opposite side of the joystick, users can grab items and steer them.
