New Delhi: The 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships will be held here from March 15-31 as India prepares to host the biennial event for the third time in the championship’s history.

Apart from this, India also hosted the 2017 Women’s Junior World Championships in Guwahati.
However, India has never hosted a men’s world championship.
It was announced last month that Delhi would host the event for the third time.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and the International Boxing Association (IBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi last month when IBA President Umar Kremlev visited the country.
“The countdown to 2023, one of the biggest boxing events in the world, begins now. The World Championships is a testament to Indian boxing’s unparalleled credentials and we at the Boxing Federation of India are ready to deliver a spectacular experience.
Ajay Singh, Chairman, Boxing Federation of India (BFI), said: “Through our partnership with the IBA team, we believe that the World Championships will help drive the growth of boxing globally.”
Competitions will be held in 12 weight classes – 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 81kg and +81kg – and entries Will be open soon.
The BFI and IBA will also work to introduce a historic round review system into the Championship.
Boxing in India has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. India has consistently ranked among the top five in recent global and multi-sport competitions such as the World Championships, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
Indian women have so far won 39 medals in 12 championships, including 10 gold medals.
