Hyderabad: Memes flooded Twitter and #Coronavirus became a trending topic on the microblogging site after another surge in Covid cases in China.
News of rising daily infections and an estimate that at least 1 million people will die from Covid in China by 2023 has sparked public concern as people have to bear the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic for more than two years.
Since memes are a way of expressing anxiety and alleviating fear or other emotions through humor, online users are posting covid-related memes and jokes on Twitter. “Welcome back” and “The boss is back,” these users wrote along with the hashtags covid and coronavirus.
