Mancherial: The pair were arrested in Bellampalli on Thursday on charges of robbery and theft of a mobile phone. Gold and silver jewelry worth Rs 3.95 lakh, a smartphone and two tablets were recovered from them. The other defendant absconded.
Mancherial Police Deputy Commissioner Akhil Mahajan said in a statement that the accused were Mohammad Ayub Pasha, Induri Thirupathi and Duguta Shyam Kumar, who belonged to different districts in Bellampalli. Ayub and Thirupathi were detained during a vehicle inspection by the Bellampalli Village Police. Shyam Kumar remains at large.
After interrogation, Ayyub confessed to ganging up with three people to rob gold and silver jewelry, stealing mobile phones and other facts. In the past, Ayub has been booked for burglaries in several places in the towns of Bellampalli and Mandamarri. Both appeared in court and were sent to judicial remand.
