Adilabad: Two members of the banned Maoist political party were killed and another injured in an exchange of gunfire between illegal extremists and armed forces in the Tekameta forest in Damrancha, Chhattisgarh state, on Friday.
According to a press release issued by the Chhattisgarh Police, the deceased was identified as Kanthi Lingavva alias Anitha (41 years old) from Laxmi Sagar village, Kaddampeddur mandal, Nirmal district. The other person has not been identified. The injured was 28-year-old Lachhmayya Kuchha Weladi from Tekameta.
Lingavva is the wife of Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar, a member of the Telangana State Council and secretary of the Kumram Bheem Divisional Council (KBDC). The Maharashtra state government announced that she offered a reward of Rs 500,000. She served as a Divisional Committee Member and Assistant Commander for KBDC. She joined the party 15 years ago after being drawn to the group’s ideology.
