Hyderabad: Hello readers! We’ve been discussing Education USA’s “5 Steps to Study Abroad in the US” and will do a short review of it today.
Step 1: Research your options
Come up with a personal list of requirements to begin the process of pursuing higher education in the United States. List colleges and universities that meet these requirements, and check each college’s accreditation status here: https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/#/home (US Department of Education) and here: https:// studyinthestates.dhs.gov/school-search (Department of Homeland Security).
Step 2: Fund your studies
To give students an idea of the cost of higher education in the United States, students should research each institution on their list and prepare a budget. Students must also identify sources of funding and prepare financial documentation. When applying for financial aid, students should submit their application for consideration as soon as possible.
Step 3: Complete your application
Students pursuing a master’s degree in the United States must plan ahead as they go through the application process. They are advised to start completing their application on time two years before the required application deadline. The application includes the online application (for a fee), resume or curriculum vitae (CV), financial documents, bachelor’s degree transcripts, personal statement (SOP), 2-3 letters of recommendation (LOR), standardized test scores, and English proficiency test scores. Before commencing your application, please review the institution’s webpage for any additional program-specific requirements and application timelines.
Step 4: Apply for a student visa
When students are admitted to a satisfactory college or university, they will begin the visa application process. Students will receive a Form I-20 from their institution upon admission, after which they must determine the type of visa they are eligible for, request a biometric appointment at the Visa Application Center and pay their SEVIS fee (here: http://www.fmjfee.com/). All of this must be done before the student schedules a visa interview.
Step 5: Ready to Go
Once students have received the applicable visa, they should be ready to go. Before traveling, students should plan and prepare for arrival in the United States, arrange housing, manage their health (before and after departure and arrival), and learn about U.S. entry procedures. After arriving at the school, students should participate in the necessary New Student Orientation Activities (NSO), try to adapt to the new environment and work and rest, and pay attention to physical and mental health.
This concludes our discussion of EducationUSA’s “5 Steps to Studying Abroad in the US” for US master’s programs.
