From officially celebrating Christmas to providing subsidies and scholarships, the government has launched a number of initiatives for minority communities

Hyderabad The government of Telangana is implementing several programs to promote the welfare and development of the Christian community in the state.
In addition to the official Christmas celebrations, the government distributes clothes to more than 300,000 needy families in the community every year.
Christmas gifts (clothes) distributed to over 835,000 Christians across the state. Of this, trousers and shirts were distributed to 280,000 men and 277,000 women’s sarees, in addition to 277,000 girls’ clothing.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao gave equal importance to all religions and ceremoniously introduced the great culture of celebrating festivals of all religions. Therefore, the government is organizing Christmas feasts in all churches.
Christian Bhavan is being built in Uppal Bhagayath on over two acres at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Before the formation of Telangana, the state had strict regulations on church construction, which were relaxed by the state government. In the past eight years, Rs 3,263 crore has been approved for the construction of 411 churches.
Driver Empowerment Program
The Telangana government has launched a Driver Empowerment Program to support the welfare of Christian youths, under which candidates will receive financial assistance to purchase a car upon successful completion of their training.
Unemployed Christian youth can receive 60% of the cost of a car as a subsidy. For this purpose, a subsidy of Rs. 6.9 million has been provided to 154 beneficiaries. Likewise, subsidy up to Rs. 1 million is also provided through bank linkages. For this purpose, a subsidy of Rs. 190 million was provided to 1,748 beneficiaries.
The state government runs staff training programs in addition to training for law students and free tutoring for those taking competitive exams. Students who plan to pursue higher education abroad are being awarded overseas scholarships.
