Hyderabad: A team of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam discovered the sculpture of Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha, which dates back to the 16th century, in the dense forest of Tadvai Mandal in Mulugu district on Monday.
Goddess Lakshmi is also present with Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha. According to the team, the form of Yogananda Narasimha is unique among Pancha Narasimha. “The Yogananda sculptures of Yadagirigutta, Penpahad and Hampi are already famous. It is a feat to carve a sculpture on this solid rock. Next to Narasimha Swamy, a sculpture of Bhairava carved on the rock was found,” said Convener, Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam Sriramoju Haragopal said.
Bhairava’s sculptures belong to the Chalukya period, while those of Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha date back to the 16th century. These rare sculptures were discovered by Ahobilam Karunakar, Mohammed Nazir, Anwar Pasha, Kiran and Srinivas Goud.
