Astonishing Rs 1,963 crore investment in Telangana expected to provide employment to 70,000+ people by 2022; more funds lined up

Hyderabad: Whether it’s aerospace, dairy, IT, pharmaceuticals, automotive or other industries, Telangana has attracted investments from major corporate giants in 2022 and looks set to see more investments before the end of the fiscal year.
So far this year, a staggering investment worth Rs 1,963 crore has settled in Telangana, providing employment to more than 70,000 people.
Apart from these investments, investments worth Rs 1,110,000 crore have been announced since January.
All of these investments will be halted over the next two to three years, providing employment for more than 63,000 people. It is Telangana’s dynamic and industry-friendly policies that have attracted a lot of investment into the state.

First up was the major investment announced this year, with Fortune 500 company Rajesh Exports (Elest) announcing an investment of Rs 2,400 crore to set up India’s first Display FAB to manufacture state-of-the-art AMOLED displays. It will be one of India’s largest investments in high-tech manufacturing.
Amazon Web Services announced the launch of its second AWS infrastructure region, the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region, after Mumbai, India.
AWS will invest around Rs 363 billion by 2030 through this new region. The investment will support more than 48,000 full-time jobs annually.

Microsoft announced an investment of Rs 15,000 crore to build India’s largest data center in Hyderabad.
The new data center will provide advanced data security, cloud solutions, customer relationship management (CRM), productivity tools and artificial intelligence to help developers, government agencies, education, start-ups and enterprises.
US multinational Qualcomm opened its second largest campus outside the US in Hyderabad in October.
The global tech giant will invest Rs 3,904.55 crore to expand its presence in Hyderabad over the next five years. Google opened a 3.3 million square foot energy-efficient campus in Hyderabad, its largest outside of its Mountain View headquarters in the US.
Aerospace and Railway
Apart from the IT sector, industry giants in the aerospace sector have also landed in Hyderabad this year to set up their divisions.
French giant Safran has decided to set up an MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul facility) for aircraft engines in Hyderabad. The facility will involve an investment of Rs 1,200 crore and is expected to create 1,000 highly skilled jobs.
Industry Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated Safran’s electrical and power plant, which produces engine wiring harnesses, and the Safran Aircraft Engines plant, which manufactures key aero-engine components for the LEAP engine.
Stadler Rail is setting up a railway coach manufacturing plant in Telangana. The investment, a joint venture between Medha Servo Drives and Stadler Rail, is worth Rs 1,000 crore and will create 2,500 jobs.

Battery manufacturing companies are lining up to set up factories in Telangana. Agger Technologies Private Limited has signed an agreement with the Telangana government to invest Rs 6.6 billion in the manufacture of lithium batteries and battery cells.
Similarly, Amara Raja Batteries Limited announced plans to invest Rs 9,500 crore in Mahabubnagar over 10 years to build a 16 GWh capacity lithium battery gigafactory and a 5 GWh capacity battery pack assembly unit. The unit will be present in Divitipalli and create employment for around 4,500 people.
Automotive field
Telangana is also now emerging as a hub for the automotive industry. This year, Hyundai announced an investment of Rs 1,400 crore to build a test track in the proposed Telangana Mobility Valley. The company will also be a stakeholder and consortium partner in the first Mobility Valley of its kind.
With the launch of Mahindra’s 3,00,000th tractor from the company’s Zaheerabad unit, the industry minister had said: “Telangana is on the Mahindra group by launching its 3,00,000th Telangana-manufactured tractor. California-based Biliti Electric is building a factory in Telangana capable of producing 2,40,000 electric vehicles per year. Biliti Electric’s Telangana factory, led by entrepreneur Rahul Gayam from the state of Hyderabad, aims to become the world’s largest factory for electric three-wheelers.
The company currently manufactures its electric three-wheelers through an exclusive manufacturing partnership with Hyderabad-based Gayam Motor Works (GMW). Biliti Electric’s new factory is expected to create 3,000 jobs.
Another California-based Fisker Inc, a provider of electric vehicles and advanced mobility solutions, has set up its Indian headquarters in Hyderabad.
Fisker Vigyan India Private Limited, the company’s operating entity in Telangana, will focus on software development and embedded electronics, virtual vehicle development support functions, data analytics and machine learning.
Dairy and Fishing
Like the IT and auto sectors, Telangana has also attracted the attention of dairy giant Amul. The Gujarat-based company signed an agreement with Telangana to build a state-of-the-art factory, which will also be the largest in South India, with an investment of Rs 300 crore in the first phase and Rs 200 crore in the second phase .
Employment opportunities will be created for 500 people. The plant will have the capacity to process 500,000 liters per day (LLPD) of milk and will be expandable to 10 LLPD.
Aquaculture giant Fishin’ Company, the world’s largest importer of tilapia species and the largest frozen food importer in the US, has announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana.
The project will start at Rajanna Sircilla’s Mid Manair reservoir and will produce 85,000 metric tons of tilapia per year using cage culture methods. It will lead to direct employment of 3,000 people and indirect employment of 2,000 people.
