Hyderabad: President Droupadi Murmu says the police can earn the respect and trust of the people only when the entire force shows vigilance, sensitivity and honesty.
Addressing the 74th batch of Indian police cadets at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy on Tuesday, she said when the police force earns the trust of the people, it boosts the image of the government. She recommends that officials demonstrate through their actions the five essential attributes of integrity, fairness, courage, competence and sensitivity.
“The police force must be a partner in national progress and social change. The police will play the role of change agents in achieving greater prosperity in India while ensuring sustainable development, especially inclusiveness,” said Droupadi Murmu.
Emphasizing that Nari Shakti must play an important role in achieving the goal, she says a real “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, presupposing “Atmanirbhar Nari”.
“More female participation leads to better overall development. We should quickly move from a stage of female empowerment to a stage of female-led development,” said Droupadi Murmu.
She urged female police officers to always help other women, especially the vulnerable. She added that if every woman stood up for the underdog in them, society would undergo a huge change.
