As a pedestrian-friendly initiative, GHMC built pedestrian bridges at major intersections
Hyderabad: It has been an eventful and productive year for the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which successfully completed nine notable Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) projects including flyovers, underpasses, underbridge roads (RUB) etc., in addition to the new Punjagutta Access Road steel bridge.
To make commuters ride smoothly, 4 connecting roads were developed at a cost of Rs 1,194.7 crore and 11.48 km of urban arterial roads were resurfaced at a cost of Rs 2,617.4 crore.
For pedestrians, GHMC completes 8-foot bridge (FoB) at a cost of Rs 281 crore
To address urban flooding, under the Nala Strategic Development Plan (SNDP), GHMC has completed two projects worth Rs 172.4 crore while 35 projects are in progress at a cost of Rs 7,374.5 crore.
The municipality also desilted Hyderabad’s existing stormwater drainage network, removing 3.61 cubic meters of silt and other waste.
A total of 678 brand new 2BHK houses were allocated to the poor under the state government’s Housing for Dignity programme.
Other activities undertaken by GHMC in 2022 include measures to control mosquito populations, establishment of seven Basti Dawakhanas, development of 75 free parks, and establishment of an animal crematorium at Fathullahguda, LB Nagar.
