Hyderabad: In 2022, Telangana is witnessing an increase in white collar crime and cybercrime, which in turn pushes up the overall crime rate by 4.44%. Director-General of Police (DGP) M Mahender Reddy said on Thursday that cybercrime has increased by 56 per cent, with a significant increase in crimes such as robbery, burglary, theft, kidnapping and white-collar crime.
Deaths from road accidents have also increased this year. A total of 6,746 people will die in traffic accidents in 2022, compared with 6,690 last year. While white collar crime has increased, there has also been a decrease in criminal activity such as murder, rape, murder, manslaughter, rape, riots, NDPS Act and POCSO cases.
The DGP said the Telangana Police is working on the principle of providing uniform services to all citizens across the state. He pointed out that the increase in crime rate was due to the increase in cybercrime cases.
In 2022, there will be no major Maoist-related violence in Telangana state, and nearly 120 extremists have surrendered this year. “As soon as we get information about the Maoist movement, action is taken,” he said.
The DGP noted that there will be no communal violence in Telangana in 2022.
