Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) produced 246,000 tonnes of coal and transported 253,000 tonnes in the 24 hours between its morning and night shifts on Wednesday, setting new records for the financial year. As a result, it overturned the records it set on December 20 for coal production of 224,000 tonnes and shipments of 235,000 tonnes.
So far this year, the company has delivered 46.5 million tonnes of coal to consumers via 2,591 rail wagons.
There are 11 districts in Singareni, with Manuguru leading the transport record set on Wednesday with a supply of 64,000 tonnes of coal. The Kothagudem region came second with 51,000 tons. Coal was transported by 11 railway wagons from Kothagudem area, 9 from Manuguru and 7 from Srirampur area.
In a statement on Thursday, chairman and managing director N Sridhar congratulated the staff, management and staff who had worked so hard to achieve this feat. He asked them to work with the same enthusiasm to achieve the production target of 7 million tons set for this financial year. Sridhar recently directed officials to produce at least 230,000 tonnes of coal per day for the remaining 90 days of the fiscal year.
