Bangalore: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Saturday that soldiers sent to the country’s border areas will spend 100 days a year with their families or headquarters.
Speaking after the inauguration of Devanahalli in Bangalore and laying the foundation stone for various projects of the India-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) and Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), Shah said: “They (soldiers stationed in border areas) should have Opportunity to spend 100 days with family or at HQ…we’re preparing rosters for that. Soldiers have less stress and less tension. It’s a tough job, I understand. But, I think from a humanitarian standpoint, This has to be done,” he said.
The Shah ITPB soldier said the government would have plans in this regard before the elections. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is committed to the welfare of soldiers and the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF),” he asserted.
Shah also praised the services of the ITPB and CAPF, saying “they provide services in the most difficult areas of the country”. “We can’t even imagine such a situation. “ITBP soldiers have been awarded the title of ‘Himveers’ by the people, which is more than the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan awards awarded by the government,” Shah said.
The Home Minister also said that the government is completing the complete chain of identifying problems, researching solutions, making recommendations, enacting policy changes, and reviewing implementation based on the law and order situation in the country.
