Peddur Apparel Park on the outskirts of Sircilla town will house major apparel companies
Rajana Sisira: Sircilla’s apparel and related industries are poised to prosper as several ambitious projects come to fruition with state government backing.
Prominent among these is the garment manufacturing unit that Bengaluru-based garment manufacturing company Texport is setting up, which is nearing completion with 60% of the work done.
On 25 February 2022, the Telangana government and Texport Industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao.
Accordingly, the government allocated 7.42 acres of land to the company in Peddur Apparel Park on the outskirts of Sircilla town. The unit has a built-up area of 177,000 square feet.
Under the agreement, the state government is responsible for developing the necessary infrastructure, including construction of work sheds, provision of electricity supply, water supply and other facilities. Texport will start production by installing its own machines.
Therefore, New York State has undertaken infrastructure development at a cost of Rs. 640 crore. According to sources, about 60% to 70% of the work has been completed and the unit is expected to be ready by the end of June.
Initially, the company will install 800 machines and provide employment for 1,600 people. Over the next three years, this capacity will be expanded to 1,000 machines, creating jobs for approximately 2,000 people. Texport’s Sircilla division will focus on the manufacture of underwear and T-shirts.
Speaking of Telangana today, TSIIC Karimnagar Regional Manager Azmira Swamy said 60% to 70% of the work has been completed. Currently, the roofing work is underway, and he is optimistic that all work will be completed by the end of June.
On the other hand, Gokaldas Images Private Limited has set up a department in Apparel Park providing employment to 500 people. The company plans to expand its operations and provide employment for an additional 1,000 people.
To make the workers (weavers) the owners of the weaving units, the state government has introduced a Worker-to-Owner scheme and is developing a weaving park in Pedu.
The 88-acre park has an investment of Rs 3.75 billion and the first phase aims to build sheds to accommodate 1,104 weavers. The project involved the establishment of 46 sheds accommodating a total of 4,416 power looms. Construction of the work shed is in its final stages.
