New Delhi: An Air India passenger has accused the flag carrier of negligence after one of her pet cats went missing from Delhi airport.
The incident happened on Wednesday with passengers on board flight AI 889 from Delhi to Imphal.
A Twitter user named Sony S. Somar shared the story of his friend’s death, demanding action on the alleged pet abuse.
“Due to the negligence of @airindiain staff, my friend’s pet went missing. This is a heart-rending tragedy and your negligence is unforgivable. You must take responsibility for your actions and correct the mistake immediately,” he tweeted Special wrote.
Passenger Jangneichong Karong wrote in an email to Air India that she was told to either reschedule the flight or upgrade to business class in order to bring her pet cat onboard.
However, business class was not available and her only option was to transport the cat via the cargo hold.
After securing the cat’s cage with the assistance of Air India staff, she overheard chatter about some pets being “on hold” and later learned that one of her cats had escaped.
In the email, the passenger said she was devastated and shocked that one of her cats had gone missing.
She believes Air India staff were careless with the cat cage as the latch felt loose when she arrived in Imphal and she is not sure who was playing with the cage causing her pet to go missing.
She asked airline officials to help reunite her with her lost pet or face necessary action.
“I got an apology call from them but what I need now is not an apology but my kitten to be reunited with her brother. Makes me question how aggressive their search is. Do you have CCTV @airindia kitty does not accept ban Food training won’t be 3 days hungry,” she tweeted on April 26.
