Amaravati: A female lecturer was injured after her husband slit her throat at the university campus in the town of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
The incident took place on the campus of the Art Institute.
According to police, the man attacked the lecturer Sumanjali with a knife. Hearing her cries for help, the students rushed to rescue her.
The attackers fled after seeing the students. Sumangali, bleeding profusely, was rushed to hospital where she is said to be in critical condition.
Sumangali, who teaches business at the college, has been living apart from her husband Paresh due to some issues between them.
She has filed a domestic violence lawsuit against Paresh and is seeking a divorce, a police officer said.
Police have launched a hunt for Paresh.
