Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association is launching APL Season 2 soon. The popular T20 cricket league has already garnered a huge fan base in its inaugural season and promises to be even more exciting this time around.
The first edition had 6 teams, and Season 2 will add a new team, making it 7 teams and adding vitality to the league. The teams will represent different cities and districts of Andhra Pradesh, bringing together cricket lovers from across the state. The league is expected to be a platform for up-and-coming cricketing talents to showcase their skills and compete against the best players on the national platform.
After the huge success of our first season, the APL has raised the bar this year, Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association secretary Gopinath Reddy, speaking to media people here on Saturday, said.
“We have added a new team to the league which will make it more competitive and exciting. We are also using Fancode as our OTT platform for live broadcasts on Star Sports 2, Star 2 HD and Star Telugu . We believe the league will be an excellent platform for young talent to showcase their skills and make a name for themselves.”
There will be 21 games in the league stage of this tournament, with Visakhapatnam and Kadapa as the venues, and each team will play 6 games. The top 4 teams will qualify for the qualifiers and knockout rounds, with 2 teams entering the finals.
The player auction will take place on May 17 and has so far received 369 applications.
