Visakhapatnam: On Wednesday, the city police arrested three people for defrauding Rs 6 million by promising commission for exchanging Rs 2,000 notes.
According to the police, Dharmarao of Kothasalipeta in the city told his friend Ahmed Mohiddeen of Kakinada that they would get a 10 percent commission if the Rs 2,000 notes were converted into rupees. 500 slips of paper. So the two of them got word out among some realtors and raised Rs 60 lakh. However, Dharmarao and one D. Sunil absconded with the money.
Following complaints from the victims, the police arrested Dharmarao, Sunil and Mohiddeen and confiscated the cash.
