Hyderabad: The revolutionary Dharani portal has been a huge success despite constant criticism from opposition parties who often magnify minor issues to undermine state government efforts.
The smooth operation of the website has enabled the state government not only to complete more than 2.2 million registrations, but also to increase registration revenue by more than six-fold in the past nine years.
Since its launch on November 2, 2020, the Dharani Portal has received an overwhelming response from the people of Telangana. As of the end of May 2023, the site has completed a staggering 1.941 million registrations, including deeds of gift and mutations, as well as 232,000 Fauthi (hereditary) and 29,458 split registrations. In addition, it conducted more than four hundred thousand transactions related to appeals and corrections during this period.
By introducing various modules to simplify transactions, the state government has successfully resolved the complex issues associated with land titles and transfers. The portal’s user-friendly interface and robust backend system ensured smooth operation, resulting in a surge in registrations. These proactive measures have played a vital role in minimizing disruption and ensuring the smooth operation of the platform.
As a result, Stamp and Registry revenues have risen an astounding sixfold over the past nine years, with officials reporting continued growth in state revenues. From Rs 2,175 crore in 2014-15, revenue generated by the stamps and registration sector surged to Rs 3,105 crore in 2015-16, Rs 3,821 crore in 2016-17 and Rs 4,202 crore in 2017-18 , and an impressive Rs 5,344 crore for 2018-19. The uptrend continues with revenue reaching Rs 6,671 crore in 2019-20.
Revenue experienced a slight decline at Rs 5,243 crore in 2020-21 due to unforeseen circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. However, showing resilience and adaptability, revenue rebounded significantly to achieve a staggering Rs 12,372 crore in 2021-22 and a staggering Rs 14,291 crore in the recently concluded 2022-23 financial year.
The significant growth in revenue tripling in three years can be attributed to the widespread adoption of the Dharani portal, which effectively eliminates fraud, reduces paperwork, and simplifies the property registration process.
The portal’s user-friendly interface and transparent procedures have instilled confidence in landowners and buyers, leading to a surge in registrations. With overwhelming response and continued growth, Dharani Portal has clearly become a game changer in the real estate industry.
