New Delhi: A 25-year-old B.Tech graduate has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh for harassing a woman working at an employment agency in Delhi, an official said on Wednesday.
The defendant was identified as Satendra Kumar Gupta, a resident of Chandauli district. He did B. Tech in Lucknow.
Sharing details, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said a complaint was received at Cyber Dwarka Police Station on Tuesday in which the complainant claimed that she was working in a placement agency and that a person harassed her by sending obscene information.
During the investigation, the police team in charge of the investigation obtained the so-called Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) of the WhatsApp account.
“Based on technical monitoring and analysis of IPDR details, the accused person is located in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. Hence, a raid was carried out in the area and Gupta was arrested,” the DCP said.
During the interrogation, Gupta admitted that he was looking for a job, and after getting the complainant’s mobile phone number, he called her and started harassing her and sending obscene text messages.
“From the defendant’s property, a mobile phone that was used to commit the crime was recovered,” the official added.
