Zhan Gang: Raghunathpalli SI Veerender said a third-year B.Tech student hanged himself in Yellareddygudem village, Raghunathpalli mandal in the district after suffering losses from online cricket betting.
The deceased was Naseer (21 years old), the son of Bairagoni Satyanarayana. SI said he was found hanging from a ceiling fan on Sunday night.
“He suffered financial loss due to online cricket betting. He borrowed money from others to play online betting. Unable to repay the loan, he committed suicide,” SI said, urging young people to stay away from online betting platforms.
He also advises parents to keep an eye on every move of young people so as not to fall into the trap of online scams and gambling.
