New Delhi: Indian star men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty regained a career-best world ranking on Tuesday. 5 After winning the Asian Badminton Championships.
The pair of 2022 World Championships bronze medalists broke a 58-year drought to become the first Indians to be crowned champions at the Continental Championships since Dinesh Khanna.
Satvik and Chirag, who were ranked No. 5 in the world in December last year, rose one place in the latest BWF rankings and returned to No. 5.
Satwik and Chirag beat Malaysia’s Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 in a tense final. Another Indian duo, Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun, also moved up four places to No. 23 in the world.
In men’s singles, Pranoi is firmly at No. 9, while Kedan Bisrikanth and Rakesh Yasin climbed one place to No. 22 and No. 23 respectively. Mithun Manjunath jumped five places to become the world number one. 41.
