Calcutta: West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress state spokesman Kunal Ghosh has refuted allegations made by Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari in the state assembly for flouting norms regarding the distribution of nomination forms for the upcoming panchayat polls.
Instead, Ghosh claimed that the nomination figures submitted by different political parties on the first day of nominations on Friday is concrete evidence that the nomination process so far has been conducted in accordance with the rules set by the West Bengal Election Commission Office.
According to Ghosh, only the BJP had submitted the largest nomination of 677 people based on Friday’s figures, proving how baseless the opposition leader’s allegations are.
“The BJP submitted 677 nominations of candidates on the first day (Gram Panchayat: 568; Panchayat Samiti: 95; Zilla Parishad: 14), which shows that they are actively involved in the process. The number speaks for itself. But Mr. Adhikari’s conspiratorial tendencies Continue to cover up his commitment to the truth. Let’s move beyond baseless speculation to focus on the facts and have a more constructive discussion,” Ghosh claimed in a tweet posted on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, Adhikari posted a video on his Twitter, alleging that the Block Development Office in Saltora, Bankura district, allowed the local Trinamool Congress leader to collect nomination papers indiscriminately, flouting the norms laid down by the committee, while Not More No more than four nomination documents should be provided to anyone.
According to him, such special priority was given to the ruling party in the event that the opposition candidate managed to reach the BDO office to collect the nomination papers, overcome the hurdles and hurdles put up by the ruling party thugs with the connivance of the state. Forced to wait a long time in the queue.
