Bangalore: Bengaluru has reported an incident in which a software professional was hit by a car while waiting for a fast bike. The car driver was enraged when the victim refused to pay him the exorbitant fare and decided to book a Rapido bike.
The incident happened at HSR Layout Sector One at 3.30am on Thursday, according to police. The act was caught on CCTV cameras. The footage shows the victim talking to the driver of the car for a while before leaving his car. Later, the driver of the car suddenly rammed his car into him.
The technician fell to the road, and by the time he stood up, the driver of the car had fled. According to CCTV footage, police have launched a hunt for the driver of the car. The identity of the technician is not yet known.
Police explained that there was a long-standing fight between the driver of the car and the rider of the Rapido bike. Car drivers have been protesting and demanding that Rapido bikes be banned. Attacks on Rapido cyclists are not uncommon.
In March this year, a Rapido bike driver was chased and subsequently attacked by car divers near the Indiranagar metro station. The incident drew attention. Car drivers claim Rapido bike service is taking away their business and livelihood.
