Hyderabad: K Kavitha, founder of TRS MLC and Bharat Jagruti Foundation, has called on poets and writers to expose those who try to divide society and bring harmony to the nation through their works. She expressed concern about growing divisions within society.
Participating in India Today Group’s Sahitya Sammelan program in New Delhi on Sunday, Kavitha announced that the Bharat Jagruti Foundation and India Today Group will jointly award literary awards starting next year to recognize poets and writers for their contributions to the literary world. Respect for society increases whenever those involved in literature are respected for their work, she said.
“Literature should create awareness and a good environment in society. Considering the general situation in the current society, poets and writers should shoulder the responsibility of creating awareness and influencing people. We set up this award to encourage and support such poets and writers, “she says.
Kavitha also dismissed claims that young people are not interested in Indian literature and culture, which she believes is safe in the hands of future generations.
