“We are the largest democracy in the world. It is our moral duty to talk to other countries. Other countries need democracy, but we still respect them for who they are. He added that it was perfectly normal for the leader of the opposition to criticize the government and it should be acceptable, adding that people should focus on criticism rather than attack it.
Pitoda also said that during Rahul Gandhi’s recent six-day visit to the United States, he met with 15 Stanford professors, all of whom specialize in the study of democracy.
“These people have written books on democracy and it’s always good to talk to them. We learn from them and they learn from us,” the Congress leader said.
Pitroda criticized the BJP for not engaging in dialogue, saying: “If the BJP does not want to engage in dialogue, that is their prerogative. Asked about the postponement of the reshuffle by the party’s top decision-making body, the Congressional Works Committee (CWC), Pitroda said: “I think the party is aware of the challenges. The party is waiting for the Karnataka elections. Now that the elections are over, Hopefully the CWC issue will be resolved in the coming weeks.”
He also said that elections planned for the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan would be a priority for the party.
“The 2024 Lok Sabha election is also approaching and it will get the attention it deserves. I think in the next few weeks and possibly a month, a clear picture will emerge,” he said.
Pitroda was instrumental in organizing Rahul Gandhi’s overseas projects.
Earlier this year, Rahul Gandhi visited the UK before heading to the US for a six-day stay.
During his visit, he met with a number of prominent personalities and spoke at various events.
