Hyderabad: Heatwave-like conditions that have gripped several parts of Hyderabad and Telangana over the past few days have intensified, with mercury levels consistently above 40 degrees Celsius.

In Hyderabad on Monday, the Khairatabad area recorded a maximum of 40.8C, followed by Secunderabad at 40.7C and Gachibowli at 40.6C. Several districts, including Nizamabad and Jayashankar Bhupalapally, saw temperatures approaching 45 degrees Celsius on Monday.

The India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad (IMD-H) forecast on Monday showed that the sweltering weather in Hyderabad and other parts may also continue next week, with the average temperature expected to remain above 40 degrees Celsius in several parts of Telangana .

The meteorological department also issued an alert for Hyderabad, urging residents to stay indoors during the peak hours of the day to avoid heat-related illnesses. The IMD issued a yellow alert warning of severe heatwave conditions that could lead to dehydration, heat stroke and heat stroke.

Minimum temperatures are also likely to hover between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius, with no relief from the heat even at night. Heatwave-like conditions are widespread even in regions other than state capitals. Nalgonda recorded a high of 45.3C on Monday, followed by Jayashankar at 45.1C.
