Hyderabad: With events on the political scene in Maharashtra poised to be a huge success, Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) is going full steam ahead with its campaign aimed at building a huge support base.
Party chairman and chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has personally led the Maharashtra operation so far, is now embarking on an ambitious plan to reach people door-to-door.
First, the party will organize a two-day workshop for party workers in Nanded on May 19-20. The party chairman has agreed to open the seminar. He will shed light on the party agenda in neighboring countries at the seminar.
Key party leaders from different parts of Maharashtra met the chief minister on Sunday and discussed modalities for the seminar, which will be the party’s first major organizational event in the state. Shankar Anna Dhondge, a senior leader of the Nanded party, said the BRS is already working in 265 of Maharashtra’s 288 constituencies.
Invitations to the workshops were limited to two or three leaders from each parliamentary constituency. Potential candidates for the next parliamentary election will be dominated by participants in the event, which will see more than 1,500 party leaders take part in Nanded. Massive arrangements are being made to make it a success.
According to party sources, the plan is for party leaders to properly embrace the BRS ideology for door-to-door visits in all parliamentary constituencies as part of a statewide membership drive that will be launched on May 21. Party flags and promotional materials will reach every household by June 20.
Village and township party committees will be formed within a month. The party will soon be fully operational from new offices in Nagpur, Aurangabad, Pune and Mumbai.
Pointing out that K Chandrashekhar Rao is already a household name in Maharashtra as he often talks about the Telangana model, leaders said they didn’t need to explain much about the BRS.
“We are only late members of the campaign. People are keen to welcome him with open arms. Rythu Bandhu, 24/7 electricity and running water supply to every household under Mission Bhagiratha is the main attraction,” they said.
Party growth in Maharashtra is complex multiplication rather than simple multiplication thanks to distaste for age-old parties, even addressing community needs, says BRS leader in Maharashtra Aspects are also left blank.
They want the Telangana model to be implemented nationwide and they want Mahasrashtra to be the first to replicate it.
