Hyderabad: The Center admitted in the Lok Sabha on Monday that it has yet to disburse an annual allocation of Rs 450 crore for three fiscal years, totaling Rs 135 crore, to develop underdeveloped areas of Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Restructuring Act 2014.
In response to a question from BRS member Nama Nageshwara Rao, Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said the Center issued Rs in accordance with Section 94(2) of the AP Restructuring Act and NITI Aayog’s advice. He said the grant was issued on the advice of NITI Aayog and the certificate of use submitted by the state government and subject to the availability of federal government resources.
Last year, Finance Minister T Harish Rao wrote to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urging her to immediately allocate Rs 900 crore for the development of backward areas, but so far has not heard back from her.
Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Medak, Mabbunagar, Rangaredi, Nalgonda and Kanman have been declared as backward areas by the Central.
