Yadadri-Bhongir: All district government hospitals in the state will soon provide chemotherapy facilities for cancer patients, Health Minister T Harish Rao said on Tuesday.

Harish Rao, who laid the foundation stone for a 100-bed hospital in Choutuppal at an estimated cost of Rs 360 crore, said cancer patients undergo 30 to 40 chemotherapy sessions as part of their treatment. They are forced to travel to hospitals in Hyderabad and other cities for chemotherapy, which is unaffordable for poor patients. Keeping this in mind, the state government has decided to introduce chemotherapy services in all district government hospitals in the state as soon as possible, he added.

The state government is also committed to providing quality healthcare services to the poor in both urban and rural areas, he said, besides Palle Dawakanas in villages, 500 Basthi Dawakhanas are being carried out within Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). business.

Institutional births in government hospitals have increased from 30% to 64% over the past nine years, indicating an increase in public confidence in government hospitals.

Medical education has changed dramatically since the formation of Telangana, with Rao pointing out that the number of medical colleges in the state has increased from 20 to 55 in the past nine years. Postgraduate seats are also offered at government medical colleges in Suryapet and Nalgonda.

The state government has also approved the opening of a nursing college and a para-medical college in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts. He added that a government medical college will also be established in Yadadri-Bhongir district.

Harish Rao said the former Congress government of Andhra Pradesh has not established any super-specialty hospital in Telangana except Gandhi, Osmaniya Hospital and NIMS in Hyderabad, Harish Rao said the state will soon There are 10,000 super-specialty beds.

This includes 2,000 beds at Warangal Multi Super Specialty Hospital, 4,000 beds at four super specialty hospitals to be set up on four sides of Hyderabad and 3,800 beds as part of NIMS hospital upgrades, all to be made available within a year. Medical services at Warangal Multi Super Specialty Hospital will also be launched by the end of this year.

He said the 100-bed hospital was set up in the Munugode constituency fulfilling a promise made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during the polls, saying Chotuppal was chosen for the hospital due to the consideration of providing patients with The need to treat the region and those involved in traffic accidents on national highways to save lives as early as possible. An intensive care unit will also be set up at the 100-bed hospital in Choutuppal, he said.

The meeting was attended by Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Munugode MLA K Prabhakar Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Zilla Parishad chairman Alimineti Sandeep Reddy and Choutuppal municipal chairman Raju.
