An officer has been suspended after accidentally dropping a smartphone into the water to drain a Canker District reservoir

Raipur: A Chhattisgarh government official has been suspended for accidentally dropping his smartphone into the water while draining a reservoir in Kank district.
Rajesh Vishwas, a food inspector in Kanker district, was enjoying a trip with friends when he accidentally dropped an Apple iPhone worth Rs 150,000 in a reservoir.
The incident happened on Monday at the Palalkot Reservoir in Pakanjul, Kanker District. According to sources, Vishwas and his friends first looked for the phone, but they did not recover it.
Later, Vishwas installed water pumps to draw water from the reservoir. Four days later, he finally found the phone.
Pumping began on Monday and continued through Thursday night.
“Rajesh Vishwas has been suspended,” Janmejay Nayak, a senior official in the district administration, told IANS.
