Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president and industry minister KT Rama Rao said there is a political vacuum at the national level and the people of the country are eagerly awaiting an alternative leadership, asserting that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will make his debut in national politics.
Referring to how Congress and the BJP are ruining the country, he ruled out any kind of alliance with the two national parties and said the BRS was open to forming alliances with other like-minded parties.
Interacting with the media here, Rama Rao said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other regional party leaders are in regular contact with the Chief Minister. Despite the abysmal performance of the BJP government in the centre, Congress has miserably failed to spark any hope among the people. The BRS, which is making plans for the 2024 parliamentary elections, will make a decision based on the situation and its own strength, he said.
slow and steady
A national party does not mean competing for all parliamentary seats at once. He said it took a lot for the BJP to win 300 seats starting from two.
“We are not in a hurry. Depending on the mood of the people, the capabilities of our leaders, and the resources at our disposal, we will have a plan for what needs to be done,” Rama Rao said.
Pointing to BRS’s choice of Maharashtra as its first domain, the minister said the overwhelming response from neighboring states was an effect of good governance in Telangana. This revolution will also resonate in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad as the political center of the country
Rama Rao pointed out that there is no rule that national politics should not center around Hyderabad, noting that BR Ambedkar’s grandson, Prakash Ambedkar, recently spoke about Ambedkar’s plan to declare Hyderabad as India’s second capital.
“There may be a situation where a national party born from Telangana states the terms in national politics in Hyderabad. If the people support it, anything is possible,” he said.
Maharashtra’s reaction to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s public meeting and continued influx of ex-MPs, MLAs, ZP chairman and others into BRS shows political vacuum, not only in Maharashtra but It is the same in other states.
Telangana Model and Golmaal Gujarat Model
“The BJP leaders have been asking, if not Modi, who else? In 2010, not many people knew about Modiji. People made exaggerated claims about the Golmaal Gujarat model, the country was confused, and he became the Prime Minister,” he said.
“After two successful terms as Chief Minister and winning the third consecutive term, BRS Chairman K Chandrashekhar Rao will replicate the Golden Telangana model across the country. Balanced, holistic, integrated, inclusive growth across all sectors is the Telangana model,” said Rama Rao .
In 2016, former union minister Arun Jaitley had said in a private conversation with BRS leaders in New Delhi that it was difficult to see a good agitator turn into a good manager, adding that Telangana was lucky that Chandrashekhar Rao was so managed. It worked, he recalls.
The current chairman of the BRS dismissed the union’s Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim that there was no vacancy in the prime minister’s seat, saying Shah was living an illusion.
“In democracies, politicians are at the mercy of the people. The biggest dictators have shown their stature in the past,” he said, while also sharply criticizing the union home secretary’s comments on Muslim reservations while the Supreme Court is pending.
“The Muslim reservation was not introduced on a community or religious basis. It was based on the recommendations of the Sahar committee formed during the Congress government,” he added.
