Hyderabad: The long-awaited 125-foot statue of Dr BR Ambedkar will be unveiled next February. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will inaugurate the statue on Dr BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary next April, as well as the Garden of Remembrance next to it.
On Monday, Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy and Minister Koppula Eeshwar inspected the ongoing statue works at the Tank Bund and said that the work is progressing rapidly and will be completed as planned. They said the statue is not only a landmark of Hyderabad but also of Telangana.
The statue and memorial are being built on the Tank Bund on approximately 11.5 acres. At the base of the statue, a structure developed on the model of the Parliament building will be built where a photo gallery depicting Dr. Ambedkar’s life and philosophy will be established. It will also have a cinema showing films and documentaries related to the author of the Indian constitution.
“Ambedkar is greatly respected by Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao, who was responsible for formulating the provisions of Article 3 of the Constitution which made the state of Telangana possible. As he promised during Dr Ambedkar’s birthday anniversary in 2016, the statue and monument are being massively Under construction,” Koppula Eeshwar said.
