Rajanna-Sircilla: Capturing them from their youth, Telangana is now training them at their youth. IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday launched “Computer Champs”, an innovative initiative to be piloted in the Rajanna-Sircilla district, an important initiative in providing basic computer skills to public school students.

The program will initially be implemented in 60 schools in the district, reaching approximately 12,000 students in grades 6-10.

To this end, the district administration signed an agreement with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, after which teachers are first trained to effectively teach basic computer courses, including MS Office and other related applications.

“The Education and IT ministries will jointly expand the scheme to be implemented in phases across all 26,000 public schools in the state,” the minister said after unveiling the revamped Zilla Parishad High School in Yela Redipet.

He said Rajanna-Sircilla has been a leader on several fronts at the state and national level and will be a role model for hosting quality government education institutions, adding that the state government is in the process of linking all 26,000 public schools with T-Fibre Grid, thereby providing Broadband Internet connection is provided in every classroom. This will enable students from remote schools to attend expert lectures in Hyderabad or anywhere in the world.

Rama Rao emphasized the importance of the classroom as a knowledge center, emphasizing that the four walls of the classroom are the key to determine the future of the country. He also asked the police department to implement a self-defense training program for female students in all schools in Rajanna-Sircilla.

Urging public representatives including sarpanches, MPTC and ZPTC to take the initiative to increase enrollment in public schools, the minister said the state government had launched the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi scheme. The initiative aims to develop all schools in three phases, each targeting 9,000 schools, by completing 12 basic components. About 9,000 schools will be ready for the first phase by August this year.

Expressing his dismay at local MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s lack of contribution to the development of the area, he said that despite the BJP’s power in the centre, neither Navodaya School nor any other educational institution has been sanctioned by the area. He also challenged MPs to approve one IIT, two colleges or industries and a Mega Powerloom cluster to Sircilla from Center to District.
