Hyderabad: BRS Works Chairman and Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday refuted allegations by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that the BRS is the BJP’s B-team, saying the Congress party is a corrupt and incompetent brand ambassador for the country.
Calling the AICC the “All India Commission on Corruption”, Rama Rao said the people of India have not forgotten the history of fraud committed by the Congress-led UPA government that eventually led to the party’s collapse across the country. He said that the BRS party is neither the B-team of the BJP nor the C-team of the Congress Party, but a powerful force capable of single-handedly confronting both parties.
He said Congress’s move to accuse BRS of colluding with the BJP would backfire, asking how the construction of the Kaleshwaram project could have been corrupted by Rs 100 crore when the construction cost itself was less than Rs 100 crore. He accused Congress of making senseless allegations and becoming a public laughing stock.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s statement, the minister said the people of Telangana would not forgive the Congress leader for suggesting removal of the Dharani portal, which was designed to eliminate middlemen and simplify land records. He also questioned the credibility of the Congress Party’s promise of Rs 4,000 pension, citing the party’s failure to deliver on the promise of Karnataka’s “Annabhagya” scheme. He stressed that the people of Karnataka elected the Congress government not because of its efficiency but because there was no viable alternative.
Rama Rao highlighted BRS’ development initiatives in tribal areas and contrasted them with the plight of the Congress regime. He claimed that the BRS was a party that stood with the poor while the Congress favored the middlemen and usurpers.
He urged the public to be wary of Congress and asked why Congress was concerned about the expansion of the BRS in the country.
